St Paul’s Soup Kitchen

St. Paul's Soup Kitchen

Aldersgate has been involved in a feeding program started in 1995 years at the St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Lowell, MA.  This program started by the late Rose Bronk, and her husband Walter as a mission from that inner city church.  The program relocated in 2005 upon that church’s closing to the Eliot Presbyterian Church in Lowell. We went from feeding 40 to 50 people on Monday and Wednesdays to now feeding Monday through Friday, 5 nights a week, and providing a meal for 80 to 100 people a night.  This program has certainly grown because of the difficult economic times we are in.  Aldersgate UMC is responsible for the third Wednesday of the month and different groups help to cover this with the Outreach committee.
