Music

We have three formal music ensembles which enhance our worship experience at Aldersgate Chelmsford: the Chancel Choir and two handbell choirs (Bellissimos and Shepherd Bells).  We also have a music and arts program for children ages 4-5th grade, Worship Arts, which combines musical and arts activities.

Vocalists and Instrumentalists share their talents as Soloists or in small groups, particularly during our 8:30 AM Sunday morning worship and during the summer months.

Chancel Choir

Rehearsal Time:  Tuesday at 7:30-9 PM | Sunday morning warm-up: 10 AM

The Chancel Choir provides vocal music on Sunday mornings during the 10:45 AM worship service weekly from September through June; for both worship services on Easter Sunday; and at other special services during Christmas, Ash Wednesday, and Holy Week.  While singers are encouraged to be present for the Tuesday evening rehearsals, those whose schedules do not allow this and feel confident to do so are welcome to participate on Sunday morning by coming to the warm-up rehearsal at 10 AM in the choir loft.

Handbell Choirs

Bellissimos

Rehearsal Time:  Thursday, 6:00-7:00 PM

The Bellissimos are an intergenerational handbell choir for youth Grades 5-12 and adults of all ages interested in developing handbell skills and learning to read music.  They meet weekly from September through May or June, depending on the end of the school year activities.  They participate in worship approximately every 6 weeks.

Shepherd Bells

Rehearsal Time:  Thursday, 7:30-8:45 PM

The Shepherd Bells are a handbell choir for adults who have enough musical background to be able to read music.  Previous ringing experience is helpful but not necessary.  The Shepherd Bells participate regularly in worship and for special occasions, including both worship services on Easter Sunday, and the 7 PM and 10 PM worship services on Christmas Eve.  They also participate in the annual Massachusetts Spring Ring sponsored by Handbell Musicians of America, usually held in April each year.

Soloists and Instrumentalists

-All Ages

The special music for our worship services on Sundays at 8:30 AM from September through June and during the summer months is led primarily by vocal soloists and/or instrumentalists.  Musicians who are not able to commit to weekly participation in one of our regular ensembles are encouraged and welcome to enhance our music program by offering their gifts during these worship services.

SUPPER, CHILDREN’S SINGING AND ADULT STUDY TIME

This new all age program combines supper, a singing program for children and youth and a study time for adults.  We meet 2 times a month from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m.  Please check our church calendar page for upcoming dates for this program.
